Home Work Station Ergonomics
Still working from home? Finding yourself sitting for prolonged periods of time? Neck or back bothering you? Your posture and work place set up may not be ideal. Lets talk about work station ergonomics.
When setting up your at home work station, there are a few key factors to focus on so that you can make it through the long days of sitting feeling your best;
- Sit back fully in your chair, ideally with your feet supported on the ground, add a foot rest if you cannot reach
- Keep your head stacked over your shoulders with your shoulders relaxed away from your ears, elbows resting on arm rests help keep your shoulders relaxed
- Keep your elbows resting at your side with your elbows bent to about 90 degrees, hands sitting just below elbow height, resting gently on the keyboard
- Position the monitor so that the top of the screen is at eye level or just below
Maintaining this position becomes difficult when we are sitting for prolonged periods of time. Take rest breaks often, try for once an hour, and be mindful of your position when you sit back down. Stretches and exercises can be helpful in augmenting our posture and positioning throughout the day.
If your work station ergonomics issues have resulted in neck and shoulder pain, maybe we can help! We would be happy to see you for a free discovery visit to discuss your situation.
